Learning about Baptism and Confirmation
In Baptism God is at work in our lives, in ways that we cannot always see, and ways that we cannot always understand. God marks us and claims us, and then walks with us as our lives unfold. We are called to be what God has created us to be, using the gifts that God provides us through the Holy Spirit. As we journey through life, God calls us to live out our baptism in faithful living, as disciples of Jesus.
Baptism is most often celebrated in the midst of worship because as God marks and claims us, God also brings us into community. In Baptism we are a part of the Body of Christ, the people of God who are saved and redeemed by God’s work in Jesus. Baptism is never private – it is always about being a part of something bigger than ourselves.
Many of us were baptized as children. The church gives us an opportunity to to confirm or affirm the promises made to them by God in their Baptism. This is also a time to publicly announce our understanding of the responsibilities we take on as Christians - as disciples of Jesus. Confirmation is an opportunity to learn about the promises God has made, why he has made them and how this impacts our lives today.
The materials on this resource page are meant to help us understand the role of baptism and confirmation in our lives.

At the end of Matthew's gospel, Jesus gives themember sof the Church their primary mission: Tell everyone the good news and baptize them in the name of the Father, the SOn, and the Holy Spirit." Then he promises to be with all his disciples until the end of the world. This is what gives us the courage we need to spread the good news!
